Wear what you want to wear. Don't worry about what others think, it's your body so wear however much or little you want. If they judge you, that's on them, and if they don't want to be kind and social because of their judgements, then is that really someone you want to socialize with? Be loved for who you are, not who someone else wants you to be.

It's a nice outfit, but probably doesn't work for the first time casual encounter. Unfortunately you'll need to go with something that goes below the knees. A long skirt, dress or nice pants should work.

Granted, if you're not overly worried about first impressions for this get together then go with you normal style. It may drive some people nuts, but in the end it's always best to be yourself.
