Why do you think that things that you don't use in lots of years get damaged?

Or abandoned houses start crumbling? Even if they're not that old?
Same with some shoes and clothing

Temperature shifting causing expansions and contractions in the material causing mechanical wearing and radiation exposure mostly, but that's just a thought
