Is it bad to be a "fence sitter"?

In an issue

When you refuse to absolutely pick a side.

Or the way I see it, trying to see multiple perspectives from either side of an argument.

I would think it's a good quality but I think also it pisses some people off

Sometimes staying neutral or not choosing either of the two choices is picking a side. It's called a third option. The best choice could be a mix of the two choices. Other times neither one is right and shouldn't be chosen. We don't have to choose the better of two evils. We can insist on better choices, choices that are actually good.
