Is it bad to be a "fence sitter"?

In an issue

When you refuse to absolutely pick a side.

Or the way I see it, trying to see multiple perspectives from either side of an argument.

I would think it's a good quality but I think also it pisses some people off

The "devils advocate" crap..is the same.

I do not get on well with fence sitters.

@JaggedLittlePill No, the "Devil's Advocate" is not fence-sitting, it's actively taking an opposite POV not because of any belief, but just to be opposite.

@ChipmunkErnie No. It is the same. It is attempting to give validity to invalid arguments for the simple purpose of being oppositional.

It is the same as fence sitting, as they could be on either side of the coin and don't make decisions on their true stance. It is a purposeful fence sitting act.

@JaggedLittlePill Hard to figure out what you said, but you appear to be supporting my point that they're two different things and then claiming they're not. Fence-sitting is refusing to make a commitment to either side, Devil's Advocate deliberately takes the opposite side of whatever is proposed.
