In Canada the money is plastic.

@hippyjoe1955 I never heard of plastic money
jackson55 · M
@smileylovesgaming You have a credit card?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@smileylovesgaming Yes our bills are made of a thin tough plastic. They have all kinds of anti counterfeiting features built in. There are places on the bill that you can look through the clear plastic.

@jackson55 we are talking about cash not credit cards
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@hippyjoe1955 I would just imagine it would be heavier then the paper kind
jackson55 · M
@smileylovesgaming Governments would love to get rid of all cash and for you to use a card to buy everything. That way they can be sure they get their tax money.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@smileylovesgaming Not a whole lot heavier. The smallest bill we have is $5.00. Anything smaller is a coin which is quite a bit heavier than the one and two dollar bill they replaced.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@jackson55 card is a lot better and faster then cash that is for sure
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@hippyjoe1955 really no 1 or 2 dollar bill there
jackson55 · M
@smileylovesgaming Because of Covid some don’t want to handle cash.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@jackson55 oh I get that. At time's I just want to wash my hands after handling cash
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@smileylovesgaming No we have the loony (one dollar coin) and the toony (two dollar coin) We don't have pennies either. Smallest coin is a nickel.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@hippyjoe1955 gee that would be strange no pennies
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@smileylovesgaming Yeah you don't get exact change. The merchants all 'round' the price so it comes to the nearest nickel. If the cost is $1.02 you pay $1.00. If the price is $1.03 you pay $1.05.

@hippyjoe1955 do u have tax on foods and stuff
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@smileylovesgaming There is a Goods and Services Tax but it is not on food and medicine. I am not sure of what is taxed and what is exempt but there is a list. It is 5% of the selling price.
