I married someone with a lot of serious problems who didn't love me.

@nightjourney I was literally not in my right mind. It took years of meds, therapy etc. to restore me to anywhere near normal.

@nightjourney I've got a long way to go with recovery, but yes, glad the marriage is done. 🤐

Stayed in a relationship with a narcissist for 6 years. I even proposed to her.

Yes, I'm having treatment, thanks for thinking it. :)

@uncalled4 id say something similar, loving one for many many years. Good that things are different now...
riseofthemachine · 41-45, M
@uncalled4 I was going to Australia for her and I didn't even want to go . I was pleasing her cause she wanted to go and I got a nervous breakdown over there . I lasted 3 days over there and lost 5 grand in the process , all goes she wanted to go and also that I couldn't say no
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@uncalled4 Thank you. I'm making efforts. Somedays are better and some are absolutely the worst.

@nightjourney Thank you so much 🤗🤗🤗🤗

Drunkenly kayaked down a flooded river for fun. I still hate myself for it. It's a miracle we all made it.

@SwampFlower Why? That sounds like a great idea honestly. Safe fun is no fun at all.

Unless your profile is wrong you are way too young to have had a mid-life crisis :D

As for me, retrospectively the time I took off my clothes and lay on the garage roof in a crashing thunderstorm enjoying the power and beauty of it all, was kinda crazy ⚡

Hmmm🤔....my instructor looked at me one day and said "I think you're ready"--then handed me the keys to the plane and walked inside. No prior warning.

A busy airport that day, I had to pick my way past a giant cargo jet in the way; beside the charter squeezing through, and some genius parked on the side of the pathway.

With all of 5 minutes to safety check the plane myself then burry all those misgivings about my abilities..and just execute.
Fed Ex turned off the runway so close I thought his wing would slice my tiny plane in half. The pilots just looked down way above, smiled, then waved at this greenhorn's bulging eyes.😌😄
A flawless first solo flight.🛫

2nd time out I fought with blinding summer haze, a weak staticky radio, and a steel behemoth coming --not entirely sure where I was in the sky. I could NOT see him at all.
@nightjourney I felt I was more or less pushed in the deep end..not entirely sure I should be there. But the instructor knew better.

Had a surreal moment, while outside safety checking the plane...as I flashed back to the days of prepping my bicycle and pack before a long ride---it felt like a seamless transition to this. That both emboldened, and worried me all at once.

@nightjourney Absolutely. A very happy moment. Memories for a lifetime.

Probably running away to Copenhagen, Denmark when I was 14 years old in 1959.
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
@nightjourney It was a beautiful city where I blended in with all of the people (with my blond hair, even features and blue eyes). I visited all the tourist sites and loved the HC Anderson museum especially. And the food was very good. The only thing I lacked there was some good beer; I was too young to drink beer back then.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@greenmountaingal how long did you stay?
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
@cherokeepatti Almost a week (6 days). Interpol was starting to catch up with me, starting to uncover my false identity. So I left for Italy. They actually caught up with me at the airport right before I boarded a plane for Rome. They ran fast. But...I ran faster!

NotJamieM · 46-50, M
Two that I can think of. The first one I was staying in a hotel in Montreal with a couple friends. Two of us decided to go up to the tip of an under-construction building across the street. We ended up getting arrested. The second time I was a teenager and thought the neighbors were away so skinny dipped in their pool. It turns out the parents were away but the daughter's stayed home. Luckily did not get arrested that time, because my parents would've seen the Police Log, lol
NotJamieM · 46-50, M
@nightjourney also good there were no cell phone cameras the time in the neighbor's pool, lol. 😂😂

I hope you get a new job soon. :(

Two years ago, when I was really sad, I ran away from school to an area with a river and almost jumped in. No one saw me and no one told my parents, so no one knows. I still have some things, but I don't feel so bad anymore.

@Stereoguy I'm glad to know that your camping dreams are coming true. My neighbors wouldn't let me park my bus on my block. So I wound up having to rent a storage place for it. I had planned to put some money every month into fixing it up but now I had to spend that money on a storage space. Fixing it up became impossible. When I decided I had to sell it, I found out my bus was a very unusual model and very hard to sell. Furthermore, I had to take SIX city busses to get to and from where my bus was stored to show it to prospective buyers (some of whom never showed up). The stress made me sick with a bladder problem and a bowel problem which made those lengthy trips involving 6 city bus rides even more miserable so I kept getting sicker. By the time I did finally sell the bus, I was a near invalid. Factor in some outrageously bad medical care and my medical issues nearly killed me, putting me in the hospital 3 times in 3 years. I have a good doctor now and I am fighting for a full recovery. But I've had some permanent damage from the illnesses including loss of my hearing and several years of incontinence which I hate. My beautiful bus, "Bussie," which I loved like a close friend, is now only a memory and I doubt if I'll ever recover enough to go camping again.

But it's good to know that someone achieved my dream even if I couldn't do it. Please check out at least one hot springs--for me! In memory of Bussie and my pre-old age dreams.

Dated my ex’s brother while I was still sleeping with my ex. Not a huge ordeal until they both invited me to hang out in the same place at the same time. Sometimes I think I do shit like that just to see if I can get away with it. Which I did 😇

@SW-User When I was 14, I managed to run away to Copenhagen, Denmark from my home in Los Angeles, California. I kept my plans secret because I didn't trust my friends not to tell. I spent a week in Copenhagen (wonderful, wonderful!) before Interpol caught up with me and then they ran fast trying to catch me but I ran faster and got away by boarding a plane to Rome, Italy where my father was living at the time.
