When is the last time you listened to AM radio?

Or any radio ?
In the car for 10 minutes at a time for me, classic rock.
They are predicting the end of radio but they’ll always be an audience I think.

The other day when I was trying to get my phone to connect to my car’s Bluetooth. I hit the wrong button and was taken back to 1955.

During baseball season, if I'm driving when a game is on, I'll tune into the local AM station. I just listened to an AM station yesterday that still does a local talk show. We have an oldies (50's and 60's) FM station I listen to frequently.

Atleast 20 years ago. I used to fall asleep to James Whale (RIP) on Talk Sport. There was always some drama going on with him so it was a fun listen.

I listen to it regularly..

I actually turn off the volume on the tv when watching sports.. I much prefer the commentators on radio.
sylvsn59 · 61-69, M
@BobbyMoeven same here except i have delay of several seconds for some reason

Same..

I am ok with it.

In one of my pickup trucks I usually just listen to the radio. Classic rock stations. Drowns out the noisy diesel engine.
At work I'll sometimes use An online scanner app or online SDR. Both are pretty interesting to me. Listen to broadcasts all over the world with An SDR.

A long time ago. Although I think some broadcasts still use Long Wave AM as well, all the BBC's broadcast channels are on FM, irrespective of their contents.

i listen to the classic rock station on fm when i am in the car just for that reason, like my listening will keep them in business. at home i listen to it directly online.
listen to am less mostly if there is a ballgame and i am in the car.

I only listen to talk on the radio and it's always AM. I can get my preferred music choices if I play digital or CDs, but I like talk and AM is the best way to get that.

I don't recall ever listening to AM radio. Whenever I have to drive at work I'll listen to FM radio, my local rock music station.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
Every time I drive for the news. It's not going to last forever, so I'm enjoying it while I can. I have no idea what the numbers are. Indeed, I probably haven't looked since I worked in radio(briefly).
carpediem · 61-69, M
I forgot my phone after leaving the house a few days ago. It was like I was naked while driving. With no phone, that means no Spotify. I was forced to listen to FM. It was interesting. Reminded me why I stopped listening in the first place (commercials).

I love my classic rock, will always be in my car.

Saturday while going to the game. Listened to both pregame and postgame shows on an AM channel.
calicuz · 56-60, M
1975 or 76', the last time we took a family vacation in dad's old station wagon.

🎶"Midnight at the Oasis,
Send your camel to bed" 🎶
goliathtree · 56-60, M
every day.

TV used to be free too...so anything is possible.
JohnnySpot · 56-60, M
@goliathtree You can still get TV without paying for cable or satellite.
Bignakedguy · 31-35, M
Probably when I use to toss newspapers at night. I use to love listening to Coast to Coast

Like around 2011
sylvsn59 · 61-69, M
@Bignakedguy i remember that...the sci fi show right?
Bignakedguy · 31-35, M
@sylvsn59 Yes indeed. Lovely show! They talked about ghosts, aliens, weird phenomena. It was pretty jarring to listen to when driving at night.

What is this AM radio you speak of? Lol, I never listen to it.
factanonverba · 56-60, M
Aroynd 1979. At that time, there was only one station worth listening to : WLS.
JimboSaturn · 56-60, M
I listen to FM radio because the AM stations are lame
swirlie · 31-35
I listen to AM radio anytime I want to pretend that I'm Amelia Earhart lost over the Pacific Ocean and trying to maintain radio contact with Tokyo.
JackDaniels · 46-50, M
@swirlie I have heard your static over the radio.
Our town shuttles play it all the time, the stations plays everythung from religious to classic rock, to soft rock, to classic country, many of the songs I hadn't heard for decades.
