@ProfessorPlum77 it gets progressively more difficult when you get the more technical license.
there are ham groups that are affiliated with the ARRL (in the US anyway) that are very helpful. you can google ARRL and find groups that meet every couple of months and I think even teach pre-test classes.
All the questions are readily available online - and practice tests too.
haven't checked the prices - you can buy 2 meter handhelds for 40 or 50 bucks - but you can't use them until you get your "ticket" (license)
My late husband was a ham. His club handled shortwave in our area during 9/11.
He repaired antique telegraph keys and invented and produced, in his basement workshop, the portable miniature key referenced below.
I'll admit I never got it, but he was a very smart man and he loved it. I went with him to many a Hamfest (basically flea markets for ham radio enthusiasts) where I rarely knew the purpose of any of the dooflickers and thingamabobs.
