I Love Weird Facts

In 1923, the winner of the Belmont Stakes horse race was a dead man. He had a heart attack mid-race and stayed on the horse till the end.

Another fun fact about birds: The hummingbird has a natural heartbeat of 1200 per minute, until they roost for the night when they go into torpor. Then it slows to about 70 bpm..and by morning they are close to death, taking about 30 minutes shivering to wake themselves up when they're able to go and feed again all day.

@Jimmyorjames Gulls are variations...Black backed gull, little gull, Herring gull, etc...But no seagull.
At least he died a winner. That's a hero's death for a jockey isn't it?
