Another fun fact about birds: The hummingbird has a natural heartbeat of 1200 per minute, until they roost for the night when they go into torpor. Then it slows to about 70 bpm..and by morning they are close to death, taking about 30 minutes shivering to wake themselves up when they're able to go and feed again all day.
