Hitler was a national socialist.
Guitarman12331-35, M
@blokeinpub yet hated left wing people
@Guitarman123 He hated communists. But was a socialist.

Extremes eh?
Guitarman12331-35, M
@blokeinpub he severely minimised workers rights and I think abolished trade unions. He was as much a socialist as trump
MethDozerM
@Guitarman123 Sorta. He abolished the prior unions and forced all workers to join a single Nazi controlled workers union.

It was a really weird and wonky thing going on.
Slade56-60, M
@Guitarman123 Yeah, he was the epitome of small, unobtrusive government

Smooth brain 馃
Guitarman12331-35, M
@MethDozer yes while they were completely under his control and wasn't concerned about their rights
@blokeinpub No, he was a despot that used Socialism as a bait and switch.
@blokeinpub He hated actual socialists, too. He put them in the camps right along with Communists. The term "National Socialist" is no more about socialism than the "Republic of China" is about Republicans.
ChipmunkErnie70-79, M
@blokeinpub Hitler was a "socialist" like Stalin was a real "communist" -- neither actually believed in what they called themselves for political purposes.
@ChipmunkErnie Exactly
BohemianBooM
@blokeinpub Neither the Nazis nor the Bolsheviks were socialist. Both groups rejected democracy.
@BohemianBoo Look how both groups got into bloody and deadly fights with each other during the 1920s in Germany.
BohemianBooM
@NativePortlander1970 This is actually an advantage for the Left. The Right can't work together because so much of their rhetoric is based on bigotry.
The Left is famous for its in-fighting, but we fight over ideas. And very often, we will put aside minor differences to support the movements that most represent Socialism. Whereas the Right will build a campaign based on hating minorities, then fail to gain power because the minorities won't support them. In America, Blacks and Asians tend to be more conservative, but they still vote Democrat because the Republicans rely so heavily on racism.
TrashCatM
@blokeinpub If you understood history and researched this better, you would understand that Hitler came to power while Germany was suffering hyperinflation, high unemployment, and a horrendous depression economically. Hitler entered the arena as a National Socialist and quickly changed into a fascist, authoritarian dictator. He could have easily entered as a US brand Republican and still become a fascist authoritarian dictator, but he would have had a faster head-start.
@BohemianBoo The left does not support true Socialism, if it did it would make the lazy work, make public assistance more difficult to qualify for, and reject the notion of student loan bailouts and other things, and make sure lazy teachers did their jobs to properly teach.
@BohemianBoo As for Minorities, I'm surprisingly seeing more and more endorse Trump and reject the dem party, because they see the donkeys as racist now as the repubs, and if not more.

@NativePortlander1970 The whole "walk away" thing is being astroturfed. Very few minorities actually fall for the "dems are da real racists" idiocy.
They actually tried this in 2016 and 2020. Both times, minorities overwhelmingly voted Democrat because right-wing media just couldn't stop the Nazi dog whistles.
TrashCatM
@BohemianBoo The "WalkAway" thing was a gigantic bust
JPWhoo36-40, MVIP
@BohemianBoo You don鈥檛 buy the polls showing Trump winning 20% support among blacks?
BohemianBooM
@JPWhoo The polls said that 12% of Blacks voted for Trump.
JPWhoo36-40, MVIP
@BohemianBoo When? I鈥檓 talking about polls for 2024. They show Trump winning 20% of the registered black vote, barely losing the Hispanic vote, and winning among voters under like 35 or something.
TrashCatM
@BohemianBoo Can we please stop saying it like that and say it properly...
88% of Blacks didn't vote for Trump
BohemianBooM
@JPWhoo Oh yeah, I definitely don't believe those polls.
First of all, it's way too early. Secondly, Democrats have been overperforming in elections since 2022. Finally, Trump supporters are a cult, which means they're much more likely to take these polls.
@JPWhoo 20% is still not a majority. It also depends on where they were polled.
JPWhoo36-40, MVIP
@BohemianBoo down ballot Democrats are polling just fine, it鈥檚 only Biden in particular whose poll numbers look dire. No incumbent president has ever made up as much ground as Biden will have to in order to defeat Trump again unless the vast majority of 2024 polls so far are historically inaccurate.
