Why is it mostly moderates calling for Biden to step aside, whereas the left wing mostly supports him continuing the race?
I consider myself left wing, not moderate, but I want President Biden to step aside.

It's mostly cry-babies who want him to step aside and sadly they seem to be concentrated in the moderate camp. They are afraid, they are in a panic, and their fear is pushing them to reject logic and reason. If Hillary Clinton wasn't able to do any better than Biden is doing, why do they think Harris will? If Nikki Haley wasn't able to give a knock-out punch why are they literally banking on someone other than the guy who knocked him down to do it? Their fears don't stand up to reason.
Sadly, their voices are getting louder and their fears are becoming in-grown. So, like "the base" they are now a lost cause. Hopefully, they will still show up to vote and hopefully Biden will remain steadfast and stay in for the win. He is the only one who can win now. The time to make a different decision has long passed. Biden is exactly the same poor public speaker who mixes up names as when the majority of Democrats voted for him. It's too bad that some cry-baby, malcontent Democrats want to abandon democracy now.
