Yeah it's 100% racist, same way mentioning potatoes and Irish people is racist
4meAndyou · F
@SW-User Does this mean I can't order Shepherd's pie at the Irish pubs anymore? 🤣 JK!
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
@SW-User why are the irish racist to potatoes?
SW-User
@Longpatrol I think she was joking. I'm Irish and I would say the Irish and potatoes is stereotypical rather than racist.

@SW-User no I'm not joking, I'm Irish and I feel like it's racist when said in certain ways
SW-User
@SW-User I am curious, was there a historical incident that led to potatoes being a racist thing to associate with Irish folk?
SW-User
@SW-User Fine, not a problem; I consider it stereotypical rather than racist. Sorry if I offended you :) Go n-éirí on bóthar leat.
Longpatrol · 31-35, M
Stereotypes can be taken too far definitely and is racism. @SW-User
SW-User
@SW-User Wow, ok
Miram · 31-35, F

SW-User
@SW-User you're British and you probably don't understand

I live in Dublin
SW-User
@SW-User I may live in the UK but my parents are Irish, I was born in Mullingar and have dual nationality. Nevertheless, I defer as I do not live there. Accept my apologies.
SW-User
@Miram no, it's to do with the famine et, and all we do is eat potatoes etc

"go back to Ireland and boil some potatoes or something"

@SW-User

That is pretty much ignorant and shallow.
SW-User
@SW-User that has been said to me
SW-User
@SW-User ok sorry.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
@SW-User love potatoes 😊

My mother in law to be lives in Dublin. She’s here visiting now and with us in Nantucket.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SW-User potatoes originated in America. Maybe we got something in common, eh?
LeeInTheNorthWoods · 70-79, F
@cherokeepatti Okay, what was Ireland like before potatoes, and what was Italy like before tomatoes? We who are from European stock (and I'm proud of my heritage) owe so, so much to Indigenous Americans.
Strictmichael75 · 61-69, M
@SW-User why is that?
