@ninalanyon Some people really don't understand theatre and the "willing suspension of disbelief". What got me was Musk complaining about a black actor being cast in the lead role and saying it is an affront to Greek heritage. Personally speaking, I think Homer would have been thrilled by either casting option . . the real one and my made up one!

@SunshineGirl As far as I can tell, the ancients (from a classical European perspective) didn't consider skin colour important and to the Greeks anyone not Greek was equally barbarian wherever they came from!

Another point is surely that the production in question isn't a performance of a play written by an ancient Greek but of a modern story using some of the elements of the Odyssey. It's a long time since I read it but I don't recall Helen being a very prominent character in the story. Her abduction was just what Hitchcock called a MacGuffin.

@ninalanyon Good point. Musk doesn't seem to be so "outraged" by the elevation of a single character to satisfy modern tastes.
