Elon Musk, DOGE, and USAID
DOGE is newly created but it is NOT part of the Federal Government. It is a TASK FORCE.
It is called the Department of Government Efficiency. DOGE was created by executive order, by President Trump, and he appointed Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the task force.
Because DOGE was created by the Executive Branch of government it is an Executive Task Force and is under the direct supervision of the President. ONE of the purposes of DOGE aside from cutting wasteful spending, is to use AI to streamline the running of all government departments.

OTHER Departments of government which are Executive Departments under the direct supervision of the President, are the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Commerce, the Department of Defense, the Department of Education, the Department of Energy, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department of the Interior, the Department of Justice, (and the Attorney General), the Department of Labor, the Department of State, the Department of Transportation, the Department of the Treasury, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
THESE departments are permanent, and are part of the Federal Government. (With the possible exception of the Department of Education).

Trump appointed the heads of these departments, who are now known as members of his cabinet.
Unlike other executive departments in our government, DOGE is a temporary department, and will be phased out in two years. Because it is not a permanent department, there is no need to put the heads of DOGE through the confirmation process. They have simply been appointed directly by the President, as is his right.
USAID was also created by Executive order by President John F. Kennedy in 1961,
the U.S. Agency for International Development emerged from an effort to separate military and non-military assistance and revamp how the U.S. distributed foreign aid. (Thus Kennedy created USAID as an Executive Department, under the direct supervision of the President).
Kennedy argued that the U.S., as the wealthiest country on Earth, had a moral and financial obligation to provide foreign aid. It was also politically advantageous to the U.S. to fund projects in poorer countries, he said, to try to prevent the collapse of "existing political and social structures which would inevitably invite the advance of totalitarianism."

Congress now approves the funding for USAID each year.
The idiotic and histrionic protests of US Congress people and Senators against the oversight and supervision of what has become THEIR slush money department, USAID, by a department Trump has put in place to seek out waste, simply shows their deep corruption.
It should be noted that MUCH of the money Congress approved for use by USAID has now mysteriously disappeared. AND...the head of USAID, Matt Hopson, has resigned after hearing that his department would be audited.
