Something is quietly happening in the background of all of this, that brings into play Newtons Third Law..The price of oil has NOT risen as it was supposed to, (to allow the US oil moguls to profit) But the price of gold HAS gone up. Largely due to purchases from central banks the world over. Annual gold purchases by these national banks (like the FED) have more or less doubled the average in each of the past four years. And the why is interesting. Some countries who had gold stored on their behalf by the US in Fort Knox have had a little difficulty getting it back on request. But leaving that aside, something else has just happened that shines a very different light on it.
For the first time the value of the gold held by nations central banks, exceeds the value of $US Treasuries held by those same central banks. Let me change the subject for a moment. One of the things central to removing the $US as the worlds reserve trade currency is to find a viable, universally accepted replacement.. And gold just became an option.. If/when there is a massive sell off of US treasuries by Japan, China, and other big holders of Treasury Bonds and $US, the value of the $Usd will first bottom out as a way to pay for imports to the US. Then America will have to rely on its meagre stock of gold (in relation to the perported value of its economy.) And find another way to pay back the $40 Trillion it owes other countries, or default and risk having foreign assets seized..
Maybe Americas should have thought it through..😷
