The Constitution gives the Congress (very specifically, and very specifically not the president) exclusive jurisdiction over the district "in all cases whatsoever" (Art I, section 8).
Except between 1874 and 1973, however, DC has had some form of 'devolved' self-government, where in current form Congress gives some of its jurisdiction over the district to a local government (a mayor and 13-seat council). Any of the council's decisions are subject to Congress's approval (but this is, usually, pro-forma). The president can in limited circumstances exercise control over the DC police force, which has happened once (guess who the president was), but that's it.
According to wikipedia there was a proposal last year (ie in the current congress) to repeal the 1973 Home Rule Act but it doesn't seem to have gone anywhere, and in any case unless there were further legislation to give governing power to the office of the president then we'd just be back to Congress directly controlling DC anyway.

Additionally, temporarily and WITHOUT the approval of Congress, Trump has the legal; ability to control the D.C. police, and he is also able to call out the National Guard...so if Lewis George creates a lawless or dangerous city, Trump can offset her.

@twiigss No attribution for your quote. If it's from one of those places that makes their money from the DNC by bashing Trump, that's understandable. The lies from THOSE people never stop.
And yes, I agree, Trump has very few filters, and something of a temper, and he is UNpredictable...but he is ALWAYS hedged in and guided by his VERY experienced lawyers.

Something else will likely take place where the government goes back to the original intent of the Constitution and things will change for the better. I think we are close to disclosure about the criminals involved on Epstein Island and some of them will be some well-known names. Then the federal reserve system will be replaced with a gold-backed currency. There will likely be new elections when this goes down due to the corruption of so many members of Congress.

He simply cannot do that. The states run our elections not the federal government. So he can sit and say all day long he doesn't agree or that he's going to ignore the results, at the end of the day our election process worked and if he does that, it's considered illegal.

I hope Janeese Lewis Geroge wins and puts Universal Healthcare, better welfare for those who need it, guaranteed sick pay, free tax paid education, free tax paid housing for the homeless, higher minimum wage and better working protections for everyone but hopefully she does that within a Capitalist society as I rather Social Democracy instead of pure Socialism! 😇😇😇 Social Democracy is the most left wing you can go WITHOUT being a Socialist and is what I am! 😌😌😌 Think of Social Democracy as to the left of Liberalism but to the right of Socialiam and that's me! 😁😁😁 I bet Janeese Lewis Geroge is a Social Democrat NOT a Socialist! 😇😇😇 Trump is a far right monster who MUST be stopped before we lose our Democracy! 😤😤😤
