On Truth Social Trump posted about the dangers of Canada signing a trade deal with China.
One of the things he said was “The First thing China will do is terminate ALL Ice Hockey being played in Canada, and permanently eliminate The Stanley Cup.”

@Convivial looks like they did pay for some of it.
a related development, under the Biden administration in 2022, Mexico agreed to contribute $1.5 billion as an investment in a joint initiative for modernizing and improving infrastructure and "smart" technology at existing U.S. ports of entry along the border. This was a cooperative effort for border security technology, not payment for the physical wall construction.
