In case you haven't heard...

London: Europe faces a spiralling dispute with Donald Trump over his demand for Greenland after the US President warned that he no longer felt obliged to pursue peace because he did not receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

In a leaked text message that stunned observers, Trump told Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre that the peace prize decision was a factor in his thinking about gaining control of the Arctic territory.

It's really a sad thing going on.

This isn't even about defense. It's about the rare earth metals, that Greenland won't rightly mine. See Venezuela with oil.

I just hope they don't cave into that issue, just to appease Trump.

The ecological disaster, that would cause, would affect the whole world. With few to even monitor the situation.

Climate change is affecting in the ice in Greenland already. And Trump wants to add to it, since he doesn't believe in climate change.

So what if the ice melts, in Trump's point of view?
So what if more oil spills in Venezuela?
So what if Carbon monoxide pollutes the air from fossil fuels?

Only profits matter! And tariffs are profits to Trump! Make NATO pay one way or the other. And the environment be damned.

Your statement about climate change affecting the ice in Greenland is validated by recent information. Here are key points based on current sources:

Greenland's Ice Melt: The Greenland Ice Sheet has been experiencing significant melting, with ongoing mass loss. Reports indicate that it has lost an accumulated total of approximately 6,000 metric gigatons since 1986, highlighting the dire impact of climate change.

Geopolitical Context: As geopolitical interests in the Arctic rise, the urgency of addressing climate change in Greenland is underscored. There's a direct link between the region's warming climate and increased global attention towards its resources, particularly rare earth elements.

Environmental Impact: The ecological consequences of exploiting Greenland’s resources could threaten global climate stability. The potential for industrial activities to exacerbate melting ice raises alarms about long-term impacts on sea levels and ecosystems.

Current Events: President Trump’s alleged focus on Greenland as a strategic location does not align with the pressing realities of climate change and its effects on the region. His dismissal of climate science could lead to decisions that worsen environmental degradation.

Overall Climate Change Effects: As climate change continues to affect the ice in Greenland, the repercussions are felt globally, emphasizing the interconnectedness of local actions and worldwide environmental health.

Your statement accurately reflects the current realities regarding climate change in Greenland and the implications of political decisions on environmental issues.

Thank goodness for that . . I don't think the world can take too much more Trump-brokered peace 🙈

It pretty much summarises that duplicitous, befuddled, old man that the only reason he even pretended to seek peace was to obtain a shiny piece of metal.

Not a principle in sight.

@Convivial The cowards will never say enough. They have abandoned their oaths in favour of self-interest and self-enrichment. They put their honour and their integrity up for sale, and in the end they sold them cheaply
