You forget something. A lot of people struggle to understand complex issues, and find it issue to take the stance of:
"orange man is a bad guy, so if he does something then that's a bad guy thing to do, so I know it's something you shouldn't do. I'm a good guy".

@hippyjoe1955 How can you state that you are in agreement with me based on a sentiment that I never expressed? Actually, I re read that. Cool, that's good that you aren't tribal.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@Therealsteve I try not to be tribal. I support what I support and I oppose what I oppose. I supported Trump when he said no more regime changes. I do not support Trump when he is trying to do regime change. I could go on and on but you get the drift. Unlike the clown who wants Trump in 2028 I do not play tribal.
Amen!! I've never seen anyone else take this brave and noble initiative. No one in history, I don't believe, has created such a loving resolution to avoid full-blown war and the unnecessary killing of soldiers and Nations. I haven't seen any other president accomplished this without one bullet. He should be up for the Nobel Peace Prize! He deserves the recognition, for sure. He's showing us how it's done. The right way!

@Roundandroundwego I am sure you are not a Drug kingpin.
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
Has that worked in the past? It's been tried but I suspect that the only cases where it might work is when the head of state is despised by the vast majority of the people in their country and where the backers of the assassin do not have any territorial ambitions.
Assassination was tried multiple times in the Balkans and in fact it is reasonable to argue that the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand in 1914 had exactly the opposite effect, it precipitated the war.

Think of the trillions spent and lives lost or injured trying to get Saddam. Yesterday took 15 minutes. No one was killed.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@sunsporter1649 Luckily not all leaders do that. Though whether these men could have been defined as mercenaries, we cannot say. Presumably Venezuela and Cuba are allies, though.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@ArishMell The drug lord could not trust his own military and police to protect him from his own people?
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@sunsporter1649 Well, we can only guess at that. He probably trusted them as far as any dictator can trust anyone.
FreestyleArt · 36-40, M
Yea I was kind of disappointed with Putin's timing in Ukraine while the NATO and the UN don't wanted to end.
At least they kept Ukraine Troops in a stale position which is it.

Taking out a leader doesn't change a thing. We have evidence of that around the world. Decapitation is utterly foolish. Maduro is in NYC. His VP is now President. His government is still running the show. There are some dead Cubans but other than that nothing has changed. There is no mass uprising in Venezuela. AI video is not proof of anything. What this has done and this is a very very sad note is it has given China the green light to invade Taiwan. It has allowed decapitations around the world. Iran would be justified in taking out Netanyahu. Putin could take out Starmer. Carney would be justified in taking out Trump. This was not a wise move and Trump's approval ratings took another hit as the people who voted for him to fix the economy and end endless wars and regime change see him doing what he promised to stop. The world is not a better place because of Trump's ill conceived plans. Americans are not safer. Americans are still struggling to pay the rent and the taxes and buy food as their dollar continues to shrink. All this so Israel can steal some more land in the Middle East? It would certainly seem so. Trump just gave Israel the green light to attack Iran again.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 LOL, the supply of illegal narcotics is disrupted, instead of buying drugs folks can now buy food, clothing, and shelter, problem solved
Prison1203 · 61-69, M
Yep, thank Trump. We finally have a no nonsense president In charge and it’s very refreshing

@Prison1203
Did you ever think about what you said? It's congress job to serve the people, serving the people is not the same as serving the head of state. If the head of state isn't serving the people, people in the legeslative branch need to check and balance the executive branch. And that also means, voting for impeachment EVEN when the head of state is a member of your own party.
Before you called someone a simpleton, for expecting politicians to do their job, you ask me what post is... while also posting content from the post you ask for... are we a bit confused or is the brain really not working at all Prison?
ROFL, remember that time that I posted a source that uses AND sources FBI data... This was your responds:
Why is that? Oh... itt's because you aren't smart enough to understand what media bias is. You even uncritically post finding from a website, that call their "factual reporting" "mixed". That doesn't mean it's a uncredibale source in all instances. BTW, just for the record, you go and find me ANY far-right source, where the "factual reporting" even gets that high of a positive marker... good luck.
Oh, and since we are talking about how ignorant you are... we also have this beauty.
Another toppic you don't know anything about, but you have a really strong opinion on. An opinion that is very wrong, but it was presented to you by the republican propaganda outlets, and like the usefull idiots that you are, you slobbered it up, internalised it, and now you are memeing it around like the parrot that you are.
@Kwek00 you will have to point out the post, because you are the simpleton thinking a republican house and Dr ate will impeach Trump .

I was very sure few Americans will hate it too. They hate everything Trump does. Now, I know what is POLITICAL BIASNESS. Till now, I thought Americans were open minded but I see few of them have tonnes of biasness.
Elessar · 31-35, M
Problem with this approach is that usually there's no thought beyond the initial strike.
Remember that the modern Iranian state is1 the consequence of a regime change that, ultimately, didn't have the effect originally intended.
Who's going to fill the power vacuum left by forcibly removing Maduro?

@DanielsASJ To restore Venezuela's oil production to even a minimally useable level will take at least a decade and enormous sums of investment money (many tens of billions).
Any oil corporation is going to require serious guarantees over the long-term before betting the company in the face of regional instability and American whimsy

Then it would be great if Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, Canada, Mexico, Russi, China or several others we have vilified took out trunp? Many of us would cheer.

Just taking out the president or the main king
Because the office holder is not the office... the head of state is not the state (except in autocracies such as Russia, USA, and North Korea)
Kidnapping Venezuela's president does not change the Venezuelan state, but I suspect it fundamentally changes the american state
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@newjaninev2 A good point.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
If you think removing Maduro is going to have any effect other than starting a war with the people of Venezuela...... Do you want to buy some ocean front property in Northern Saskatchewan? In a few years with all the global warming it will be a tropical hot spot.
Docdon23 · M
@hippyjoe1955 It is all, and only, about the oil. This sets a bad precedent...who is next? Even our own "leader"?
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
I guess you never really grew up and looked at the long term implications of actions.
DanielsASJ · 36-40, M
@Kwek00 Unless you sure you are drug mafia
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@DanielsASJ How does that even fit in this reasoning?
Do you know what the orange calf did with an actual president caught for drug trafficking? Maybe you want to look into Juan Orlando Hernández from Hondurus, and his recent pardon.

@Kwek00 There is no harm in accepting that if tomorrow Trump says we should have more schools and you will start screaming about, "School here and there will make child cross the roads while traffic is on, too dangerous for children"
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
The trouble is that mere mortals concern themselves with trivial matters such as international law, national sovereignty, diplomacy and democracy. None of which appears to matter to Trump.

@Prison1203 there are currently 4 House vacancies and the Dems are poised to take them all and regain the House. Therefore, Trump could be impeached and removed long before the Midterms
Prison1203 · 61-69, M
@G7J2O he may be impeached but he won’t be convicted in the senate he was impeached twice but not convicted, impeachment will not happen and by my count 218 is higher that 215 which would be the house count if we lost all 4 seats, this is what it looks like now we could lose the 4 and still have control
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Prison1203
-> he may be impeached
-> he won't be convicted
-> acknowledges that he was impeached twice
BUT
He was impeached twice... but impeachment will not happen. 😅
