Hell these folks are probably gonna violate the third amendment at this rate and I'm not even kidding.

@BorealPedant I would not put it past them.
Most people do not even know what that one is. I looked that up some time ago and thought, "Was that ever actually a problem?" Maybe it happened in Britain.
For everyone else -

The Third Amendment prohibits the forced quartering of soldiers in private homes, stating that no soldier shall be housed in a house without the owner's consent in peacetime, nor in wartime except as prescribed by law.

@HoeBag Yeah, the third amendment has been considered a bit of a joke for the past century but was a serious problem in militia days.
And, well, if they are sending armies into cities to attack civilians, they have to stay *somewhere*...

@BorealPedant
oh h3ll I didn't even think of that.
I guess that would explain the concern of having the national guard in some cities.

@HoeBag That and the entire police state thing.
HoeBag · 46-50, F
@BorealPedant The national guard has not been to my city yet, not on a large scale, I do not know what they do exactly when they go to cities.
I guess some people imagine the guard being in their city means a war zone, like Gaza, but I do not think that is the case.

@HoeBag Nah, Gaza is entirely different.
A police state means a country where there's an extreme level of control over society and expression of political freedoms. Police states enforce a higher level of peace than other states. You know where there's no problem with gang violence? North Korea.
Police states require large amounts of police and/or military within the population to enforce the rule of the state. And they're fine if you have nothing to say or do which upsets the state.
There's an old joke I like.

An American tells a Russian that people in USA have the freedom of speech and that he even could go to the White House and shout: "Go to hell, Ronald Reagan!"
The Russian answers: "Oh, we also have freedom of speech. I, too, can go to Kremlin and shout: "Go to hell, Ronald Reagan!"
