Trump's latest threat - respect his tech bro mates or be slugged with more and/or higher tariffs

and be restricted from access to US technologies.

Not that Australia really has a tech manufacturing sector.

The thing Trump keeps forgetting is that his tariffs are NOT hurting any businesses or individuals or countries outside the USA. They are directly penalising US consumers and businesses which have to cop the impost of the tariffs directly through higher costs of goods and services.

@sunsporter1649 All well and good to say that but materials imported to the USA to make goods in the USA are also subject to Trump's tariffs, and this is how it hurts US consumers.

@sunsporter1649 If america doesn't produce those goods (Wisconsin being such a famous coffee producer) then you'll need to do without. Perhaps you could manufacture your own in the States... make smartphones in the US. Of course, you'll first need to produce all the components in the States, and then you'll need to assemble the phones in the States, and you'll need to pay minimum wage (at least) to all the workers - those workers who aren't in the fields working for at least minimum wage to replace the cheap and focused labour force you deported - you'll be astonished by how much you can end up paying for potatoes (ask present-day russians)
Enjoy your $3,500 smartphone due in 3 to 4 years (no choice of model or colour, of course, because they're in short supply).
