It is the fragmented private healthcare system in America that makes drugs expensive, not offshore manufacturing. Why not use the power of federal government to negotiate bulk buying and cut out the profiteering middlemen?

Trump is already trying to attack other countries that have schemes like the PBS here in Australia that make access to medicines cheaper for those who can't afford them normally.

Trump needs to go after people like Martin Shrekeli (aka 'pharma bro'), etc. before he attempts to force the world to accept carte-blanche the importation of US produced healthcare products and drugs. Maybe he'll get Elizabeth Holmes into his 'secret ministries'.

A real businessman would have first asked the question: Why are more companies not already manufacturing items in the U.S (across all sectors).? Lets get answers to that question from the actual companies (not TV entertainers) then move on to mitigate the reasons given in their answers....with those issues removed, it would naturally encourage companies move manufacturing here on their own.

Even if something is manufactured cheaper that doesn't mean it will be sold for less. The aim is to make as much profit as possible.
