The ones currently targeted are criminals. The worst sort of them, usually involved in drug gangs and human trafficking. Ones who are just guilty of only crossing illegally who get caught are those who are with the criminal element, either living with them or working with.
I am fine with the average person having a method to legally come here to work and make a better life, but the average illegal border crosser is also safer if the dangerous people are kicked out. A legal way of crossing also protects those who want to work. Often they are basically slave labor because of their illegal status. I know several businesses that use illegal labor and pay garbage wages, enforce long hours with no overtime and use people. They have been reported often with no prosecution due to being in 'sanctuary' areas.
I would also love to see some fed investigations into these places as those workers dont deserve such treatment.

@Arnoldjrmmer He has targeted legal migrants as well by suspending the app they need to book appointments with immigration officials.
I agree that businesses which use the labour of undocumented migrants should be the primary target for enforcement.

@Arnoldjrmmer tRump SAYS he's only going after criminals, but that's not what's actually happening.

Just to be clear, it's illegal to detain an American citizen without either a warrant of probable cause. Do you want to live in a "papers please" society??

ICE agents raid seafood store, detain U.S. military veteran
... “I was confused; they took three people who did not have any documentation on them,” Janota said. “I asked them [the agents] what documentation they were looking for, and they said it was a license or a passport. I thought, ‘Who walks around with a passport?'”
Janota said three people were taken into custody, and some received a court date to appear before a judge.
“One of the guys was a military veteran, and the way he looked to me was because he was Hispanic,” Janota said. “He is Puerto Rican and the manager of our warehouse. It looked to me like they were specifically going after certain kinds of people — not every kind, because they did not ask me for documentation for my American workers, Portuguese workers, or white workers.”

@Arnoldjrmmer rounding up criminal refugees has been going on here since before the constitution was written.

@bijouxbroussard so bb, what’s your take when he says countries are somehow able to empty their prisons and psyche institutions and transfer the inmates to the USA?
Personally, I think that may be his most preposterous lie to date.

@Vin53 The one time that might’ve happened in fact was the Mariel Boatlift, in keeping with our practice of allowing Cubans sanctuary to "escape Communism".
Fidel took us at our word.

@bijouxbroussard that is as close as it ever came to being real and most likely where he conjured up the notion. He’s a fan of the classics.
