Is Trump chumming the waters again?

Shortly after the trial date for the classified documents case was set Trump made the following statement - if he is put in pre-trial detention, some of his "passionate" supporters could be dangerous.

I think he is throwing red meat to his followers. And it seems kind of funny he mentioned pre-trial detention - nobody has said he could get that so maybe he knows it is a possibility. Cheers and happy weekend!

@Virgo79 Nope that's not it.

@Nanoose so just blowing🤔

@Virgo79 Nope that's not it either.
Seems like he's always chumming the waters. That's a really good analogy, because the blood and the sharks circling is a distraction and entertainment at the same time.

As for pre-trial detention itself, much like the perp walk thing, he's using it. Why should the next case be any different then the last one where he was not only released but allowed to keep his passport and meet with Putin?

He's daring the "deep state" aka, the US government, to help him by fully engaging his supporters, and if they don't, he can accuse it of weakness.

It's not all that different though, than the 2020 campaign, and that was really close.
Every time he makes a public statement like that he should be fined and charged with attempting to incite unrest again. Trump’s a public figure, he’s already caused problems with his supporters by deliberately stirring them up—that’s what January 6 was about. If he really thought his words had no connection to that disaster, he wouldn’t keep using them trying to enflame his base again.
@bijouxbroussard Trump needs to be confined, held incommunicado except visits with his lawyers, and no internet access. Give him (at his own expense) a daily copy of WaPo so that he can see how badly he’s failing.
@Nanoose What was that Led Zeppelin song? “Trump’s Lying His Way Into Prison?”
Nanoose · 70-79, M
@KunsanVeteran I was thinking the Led Zeppelin song would be Hangman because sometimes I think Trump should be hung for treason. Cheers and happy weekend!

Maybe this time the government will round them up and put them in jail. Last time the trump enthusiasts rioted they went home until the public fingered them.
Nanoose · 70-79, M
@Crazywaterspring I think there is a better chance of that happening this time because Trump is not in charge - he did next to nothing last time to make sure the rioters would be arrested for attacking the Nations capital. Cheers and happy weekend!
@Crazywaterspring We’ll, there wasn’t much choice on January 6th. The Capitol Police were severely understaffed and the then still POTUS was undermining them. It’s just great to see that so many are finally being held somewhat accountable for their criminal conduct. More to come. And hopefully that “more” will include Twice Impeached and his henchmen.
Pre-trial confinement is a possibility, although unlikely for Twice Impeached and any co-conspirators (I.e. Nauta). Jack Teixeira, the 21 year old Air National Guardsman who also stole classified documents, was confined although he posed less of a risk to National Security than Twice Impeached and less of a flight risk. Also, many of the January 6th insurrectionists also were held pre-trial while the single individual who could have halted the entire coup attempt at any moment was allowed to remain free.

@eli1601 TDS seemed to be quite widespread after November 7th, 2020:

@TrashCat For all we know he is saving his money to get the surgery to have a tiny dick that is shaped like a mushroom just like Trump's. Cheers and happy weekend!
At some point Cannon will have to tell him to quit attacking the people involved in the case, but he won't. So he gets ahead of that. They will put me in jail before the trial. That's not fair. They would only do that to me, the most persecuted person in the history of the U S.
@Pitchblue If he started to refer to himself as the stupidest person in the history of America or all mankind, I would agree with him.
BackyardShaman · 61-69, M
One way to look at this is he has those extremist supporters and whether he winds up in a cage or not they are already dangerous. Also and in particular with the election/Jan6 indictment, this behavior of his is more relevant to the crimes being charged and the Judge is not likely to be an insurrectionist like Canon in Florida. So it may be his newest lawyer has advised him he is likely to be caged, which should have already been done in my opinion.

{@nanoose] well has succeeded once inciting the great brainwashed into the january sixth demonstration and subsequential rioting it lead to
Absolutely! That is exactly what he is doing. And he’s doing it to stir the hatred, fear, and all the other negative emotions of those that comprise his base.

His arse sure does sound talkative, just my opinion 😆
Good thinking chumps. Jail those with whom you disagree.
