@RodionRomanovitch Yes. Both the US and the UK had huge numbers of admirers of Hitler—in the beginning. At that time there were probably more people here who agreed with the Nazis than who didn’t.The American Nazis still exist here.

@bijouxbroussard Yeah , we had the whole thing with Mosley and his blackshirts here , although I'm not sure that he was that popular outside of East London.

What did shock me about the Nazis in the US is just how widespread their support was. There were apparently pro-Nazi radio shows at the time that were pulling audiences of 30 million !

@RodionRomanovitch That was back during Jim Crow, remember. We had a long-standing equivalent of apartheid in the U.S. De facto in some states, actual [b]law[/b] in others.
