Sweet. Won't be enough though. Biden needs to galvanise the Democrats who stayed at home last time. They were what lost Hillary the election, not Trump's base.

@SW-User Thankfully this isn't 2016. Let's see how many deaths need to happen before people wake up and smell the B/S.
RedFlower · F
@SW-User of all the possible candidates the democrats actually managed to put the worst possible candidate... i mean technically a sack of potatoes should win against trump... but biden...

its like the perfect candidate for trump... biden makes people wanna stay at home and not care anymore
Elessar · 26-30, M
@SW-User I don't think in 2016 the GOP was perceived as much as a treat to democracy as it is now (especially after the UPS thing), I'm incline to think there won't be as many abstentions this time.
SW-User
@RedFlower I disagree. That's why the Dems did not come out for Hillary. They much prefer Biden over Hillary and that will be enough. Plus his appointment of whatshername to the Supreme Court will galvanise the progressive vote further.

Hillary really lost by wafer thin margins last time. It won't happen again with Biden.
cuppatea · 31-35, F
@RedFlower Spoken like a true Trumpie. Biden has something that Trump will never have - intelligence, respect and character. People who lack those qualities themselves can not see those traits in others. It's laughable.
RedFlower · F
@cuppatea wow... you are really a gem. calling me a trump voter... hillarious. trump is so far out of the league disgusting that any firther discussion about him pointless.. any standards that ever existed he has set to a new low...

now with that out of the way biden is an old fart that is so far right that he could easily run for the republicans himself... and the strategy that he will win over republicans is stupid. it didnt work 4 years ago... he is basically the same like clinton just 20 years older and male... good job.

because of bidens nomination a lot of young people that were invested in a change have given up there is just no point.. might aswell bend over and let trump crush the country completely.. its not worth it
SW-User
@cuppatea To be fair, she never said she was a Trumpie. She said a sack of spuds should be able to beat Trump.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SW-User True, but that's not likely to happen since most of Biden's platform is "The democratic voter base cannot have the stuff it wants. Vote for me."
SW-User
@RedFlower Put it this way. If young people like me are TERRIFIED of another four years of Trump then they HAVE to vote Biden. At least then there is the CHANCE of change.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SW-User There's a pretty big presence here in Chicago to support the "settle for Biden" campaign which I think is pretty funny, but I'm also on board with.
RedFlower · F
@SW-User sometimes you gotta let the field burn down before you can rebuild...
SW-User
@BlueMetalChick It's that or another four years of Trump. At least with Biden there is the chance of change. Trump has already shown he is not interested in governing the country, only his adoring "base".
SW-User
@RedFlower Has Trump not burned the field enough already?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SW-User He managed to convince enough people that he was an "outsider" and he wasn't beholden to the corrupt interests of corporations and big money donors that the usual suspects in government are. But now as president he's shown that he's the ultimate insider, he's the insider's insider, he's more beholden to the usual suspects than anyone.
RedFlower · F
@SW-User apparently not enough... or they would have put a proper candidate agaisnt him.

i mean biden is a nice and decent guy... i would like him as a neighbor or meet him at a dinner party... but he is a terrible choice to stand agaisnt mr awful himself that is supported by a cult of disgusting extremists. decency cant win agaisnt that.
SW-User
@BlueMetalChick Of course. But the reason people gave him the benefit over Hillary was because Hillary was demonstrably The Establishment and vast swathes of the population wanted to give a big Fuck You to The Man (or Woman, but you know what I mean).

I don't think they'll make that mistake this time.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SW-User Exactly. He had the appeal of being a candidate who didn't represent the establishment, or "the man." He's lost that now.
RedFlower · F
@SW-User they gonna do exactly that again.. 90% of trump voters vote for him out of spite
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@RedFlower This time around that's probably true. In 2016 I think there were plenty who voted for Trump for reasons other than spite, but now in 2020 it's mostly spite voters on his side.
SW-User
@RedFlower The thing is, the only other person who would have had a chance against him would be Bernie. He would hugely galvanise the progressive and Latino vote, but he just doesn't have the broad appeal. Bit like Trump really.
RedFlower · F
@SW-User yang would have been the perfect candidate... would completely negated the race question he is an outsider with a capitalist background but at the same time had the right social ideas to bring an actual change
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@SW-User Trump himself said that recently, that Sanders is far more liked by the democratic base than Biden is. Personally I think Sanders lost the primary because people gave in too much to this concept of "electability" and chose the candidate they thought everyone else was gonna choose. Kinda like that thing in middle school when everyone wore a stupid looking fashion trend not cos they liked it but cos they thought everyone else was wearing it so they had to as well or else they wouldn't fit in. And then everyone is wearing the same thing but nobody actually likes it.
cuppatea · 31-35, F
@BlueMetalChick I think a better analogy would be kids following the big fat mindless bully because they are too afraid to stand up and say ... NO. Why are you listening to anything Trump has to say? LOL
@RedFlower Unfortunately, few knew him.
