Hey, guys? I have a question. Whatever happened to the idea Mel Brooks had?

While everybody else was tiptoeing around, walking on eggshells, talking about what an awful, horrible person Adolf Hitler was, Mel muthafuсkin' Brooks had the exact opposite idea.

Laugh at him. Mock him. Make him look ridiculous.

These days, if you dress like Hitler, everybody assumes it's to glorify him.

Why? Why can't it be for the purpose of making him look silly?

Let's bring back some good old comedy like this:

Walt Disney did that, as well

Charlie Chaplain, too I think, after he found out Hitler was a fan of his

@caPnAhab I know. I just wish people still had those kind of stones.
Brooks was a genius, but we've still got people trying to do similar things, e.g, Saturday Night Live.

@MistyCee I mean, yes, but no. They tried to cancel John Cleese because He did a Hitler gag in Fawlty Towers. There was a whole thing where they wouldn't run "Don't Mention The War" with the rest of the series.
@LordShadowfire Sure, there's pushback, and there always has been.

When I look at Blazing Saddles, for all that I think it stands the test of time, I also see that, like All in the Family, it could never be made today, and if it was, it wouldn't work.

How do you parodize Trump when he, his followers, and even his media accomplices like Fox, pretty much are caricatures to begin with?

Plus, on both sides, really, we now have documentaries, that love them or hate them, are literally decades beyond Lene Riefenstahl and US propanda films of that time.
