A commentary on the sad state of current affairs.....

I like actress Jennifer Lawrence enjoy most of her movies, but when I read the interview with her in the current issue of Vogue magazine,I just rolled my eyes. The actress grew up in Kentucky and was rasied as a conservative by her parents. In her teenage years, when she started finding major success as an actress, she shifted her political viewpoint to an ultra-progressive stance. Now,according to the interview, she has purposely shut her parents out of her life due to their conservative politics;and she insists that famous pepole should essentially be REQIURED to make their political beliefs public knowledge. This is sad.Its not surprising that shed adopt progressive politics;everyone in Hollywood has to just to survive. But to reject and ostracize your parents due to their political views speaks to an intolerance that is as disturbing as it is unfair. And her idea that famous people have some sort of obligation to talk about politics is contrary to the idea of a free country.(Along with the 1st Amendment right to express your opinion is the right NOT to!)And I think that most pepole would find in more appealing for a famous person to shut up about such things these days! The whole thing is a sad commentary on the state of current affairs.

A wise man once said "never mix business and pleasure". I watch entertainers to be entertained, not to adopt their beliefs. I don't watch movies with Danny Gover anymore, I don't buy CDs by several artists even though I like their music.

They have a public platform because people watch them on TV or buy tickets to their concerts, once they open their mouth and spew things that go against what I believe, they make themselves political mouthpieces with the support of their viewers. I like the music and movies, but I can't support something that goes against my beliefs. Personally, I think actors and musicians should stick to acting and music and leave the political opinion alone.

@Roadsterrider Amen to that!

@Roadsterrider Absolutely! It seems that just because a celeb can throw a ball or sing a song, that makes them sooo much more wise than us mere mortals! When in reality, just the opposite is true
She's an an actress and a pretty young one at that.

It's not really a qualification for having an opinion worth listening to.

@MistyCee But you judge every famous conservative about their choices, whether they actually happened or were reported by unnamed sources.
TexChik · F
@MistyCee She's a leftist radical with a disgusting view of the country that made her famous.
@TexChik That's not what made her famous.

That girl is mostly box office poison. The last X-Men movies with her didn't do so well in the theaters.

@Barefooter25 I agree, most people here (Texas) dont go to the theaters anymore. Last time I went was this spring actually. We were at the farm and flew in to Amarillo to get a bunch of Sams groceries and we decided to eat at cute looking breakfast cafe place. While we were eating my husband looked up and saw a big theater sign next door that was promoting Top Gun 2. We shrugged and said what the heck and went to see it. I like the big screen, but I dont like the BS many of the actors try to force down our throats because of their notoriety.
Barefooter25 · 46-50, M
@TexChik I went to see Top Gun:Maverick and I thought it was pretty good. Alot of movie goers liked it because it didn't have any type of woke agenda. The last good movie I saw in the theater was Elvis. But you are right about Hollywood and movies. Its been a very long time since I have seen an actual good movie. Most of entertainment today is only interested in showing their left wing agendas down our throats.

carpediem · 61-69, M
Just another Hollywood weirdo. Shallow, self absorbed, pathetic.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@carpediem True. But my guess is she didn't start out that way.And she is a talented actress. Its a shame;not so much that she holds her beliefs-lets face it,thats to be expected-but that shes willing to ostracize her parents for not sharing them.Youll note that such intolerance seems to be the exclusive domain of the far-left.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@DavidT8899 She’s still a nutcase. I try to avoid those people.
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
You have to be a liberal to fit in with the hollywood crowd.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@fanuc2013 If you'll recall,I said as much in my post.
TexChik · F
She's part of the socialist crowd in Hollywood. They are into some freaky stuff . I dont watch movies she or others of her ilk are in.
