I did something similar a few years ago.

I kept telling them not to treat the positions in my office as entry level where I had to do my job and train others (who didn't stay long)

and then one day, when we were down one person (3 person office) and the other person was on the last day of her notice...well I turned in MY two week notice.

Suddenly I was getting attention from my boss and his boss.

I met my new trainee and was showing her around and mentioned that I would be with her 10 working days and then I'd be gone. And not to worry - they would help her after I left.

Turns out they COULD make adjustments to have other people working in their to take up the slack after all.
