National Treasure

The Times today reveals that Bernie Ecclestone, the sprightly 93 year old former F1 CEO, was the second highest tax payer in the UK in the last tax year, paying an estimated 拢652.6 million to HMRC. Admittedly 拢650 million of that was in backpayments, fines, and interest to avoid jail for fraudulently concealing an offshore trust . . but better late than never 馃槉馃憤

Meanwhile, two thirds of the top 100 contributors paid less in tax in 2022-23 than they did in 2021-22. Things must be tough at the top.
