Does it mess up your taxes very much if you were in the habit of having it done by one person for many years and then switch to someone new?

I think the person who does mine is unwell, and I am thinking of getting someone else next year

Not unless the person who was doing them was doing something shady. If she was legit and above board your new accountant and you should have no issues. Make sure you communicate with the new tax person so you know what they want from you.

I was in this position. My accountant passed away last year, so his firm referred me to someone else there, and they had my information as their client. Of course I still had to provide the paperwork for 2021, and I brought some of the past work he’d done. So it went as smoothly as possible. It would’ve been more complicated with a different firm, but they’d always provided good service.

@bijouxbroussard[@house of cards] Like everything in life -- no guarantees; unpredictable. Luck of the draw, crap shoot, call it what you want. Ours retired a number of years ago, and she referred us to a colleague of hers. I wouldn't say it was a bad experience, but not the same. So we tried someone else that was recommended and it was a horrible experience. Our son recommended his, and she has been a delight -- just like the one who had retired -- and we have been with her ever since.

My CPA retired and a new one took over.
The old one was more intimate (one on one)
The new more efficient by means of technology.

Both are/were fantastic !
