Are you concerned about the tax on Billionaires?

I think I’m okay, but if he extends it too far, I’m gonna be upset!

@badminton So your solution is to increase taxes on everyone by inflation. Brilliant plan, got any more like it?
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
@sunsporter1649 Oh no, I only want to increase taxes on the top 2%. I would like the U.S. to go back to the tax system we had in 1960. The country was prosperous then.

We have a military budget of nearly $800 billion per year! Most of which is stolden by corrupt military contractors. We CAN NOT have such a huge military budget and also give greedy corporations and billionaires tax cuts.

@badminton Makes one wonder how much is wasted on those millions of illegal aliens swarming across the southern border, does it not?

@sunsporter1649 That is pure fantasy. Thousands not millions.

Those young immigrants get jobs and pay taxes. They pay into social security which benefits us older folks. I've worked with many Central-American immigrants. I've found them to be decent people who just want a job.

BTW all us Americans were immigrants a few generations ago, except the indigenous peoples. And African-Americans were brought here by force.

Hey, money spent on illegals is never wasted... they are future Democrat voters.

Just ask AOC if you don't believe me.

@Thinkerbell Since the Rs are dedicated to enriching the wealthy and impoverishing the rest of us, I can understand why they'd vote Democrat.

Actually, most democrats in Congress are only a marginally better. Both the Rs and Ds are corrupted by corporate money in the form of campaign contributions. Every where else in the world that's called bribery.

@badminton

You are partly right. The Democrats politically pay off the moneyed interests at least as much as Republicans do.

But they also buy votes from the low end of the economic spectrum.

And who gets to pay for all this?

That's right, the shrinking middle class. 🙄
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
@Thinkerbell Ronald Reagan was responsible for the decline of the middle-class. Under Reagan good paying manufacturing jobs were sent overseas, and there was a huge transfer of wealth from the working class and middle-class to the super wealthy.

I say we reverse that process. America should be a counrty that works for ALL of us, not just billionaires and corporations.

"Ronald Reagan was responsible for the decline of the middle-class."

Not so. The decline had been going on for many years before and since Reagan.
In fact, there was a slight uptick near the end of his term and during the beginning of Bush 42's.

The most precipitous decline came under Clinton. See the chart below.
