I respect our veterans, and after encountering too many in the shelter where I volunteered recently...

I believe, in addition to free education, job training and healthcare, they should never have to worry where their next meal comes from or about not having a roof over their heads.

That’s the very least their service has earned them. 🥺

Respect is what they deserve.
Unfortunately so many veterans suffer from PTSD and need assistance and medical help.
They endangered their lifes for us. The least we can do is help them when they need it

The government is great at sending us overseas to fight in pointless wars. Once we return they don't care. "Thank you for your service" means virtually nothing.

@bijouxbroussard Yep. I'm pretty sure I missed a big opportunity to be a therapist. The world, with more awareness about mental issues, would be a much better place.

@uncalled4 So right: Those veterans who you see without a place to stay are still suffering the effects of the horrors they encountered while in service - they cannot sleep without nightmares, they cannot eat without putting their backs to a wall, they cannot trust anyone who isn't wearing a uniform like the one they wore.
If a country asks a person to willingly sacrifice their life for us then whether lose their life while serving or lose their life by reliving their time in hell when they return.... they and their families deserve to be properly cared for by the government.
