I don't understand how in Australia, everyone is worried about the negative health effects of vaping

Yet... We cool with safe injecting rooms? 👀

I mean, would everyone stop caring about the negative effects of vaping if we decided to make safe vaping rooms?

If vaping was as destructive as hard drugs, people would/should be open to injection site equivalents for that. They're not as destructive tho

And the existence of these places isn't people not caring about negative effects. Any developed country should be cool with safe injection rooms. It's an overt example of people caring bc what's the alternative? People getting shit off the streets? And a war on drugs is not the solution either

@deadgerbil yeah, getting stuff from the streets isn't good either,
But I guess the alternative is rehab instead of enabling

And on top of that, you get more crazies on a high who are harrassing random people just trying to pass by 😔

I've seen some people do some messed up things while under the influence

@Fishy they do far more than just enabling, they literally help facilitate rehab for people in the throes of addiction. And no one is perfect and a lot of people may fall off the wagon, so them falling off the wagon in a clean place is superior to anything else.

Internationally, safe injection sites have reduced the risk of overdose, death and the spread of infectious diseases, increased public safety and decreased public drug injection or nuisance. Sites link people to medical care, expedite social services that help them quit using, and aim to reduce the stigma associated with drug use that often prevents people from seeking help.
