I'm going to anger some people but here I go anyway. I don't like being called indigenous just call me native american.

Indigenous makes me sound primitive. I am NOT primitive. But hey aren't you mixed? Yes I'm only half native and the rest of me mexican but still I am not primitive. Making me sound like I'm some lesser type of human and what not.

@Astro Most American Indians didn't become Americans until 1924, so, they are hardly Native Americans. And the majority of them couldn't vote until the late 1950s. Some still can't.

@Diotrephes Why were they (and some still are) disenfranchised?

@ArishMell
Why were they (and some still are) disenfranchised?
The basic answer is because of pure racism. Remember, the country was founded on the idea that only free White men (not White women) over the age of 21 and of a certain net worth, could vote. That was the law for decades.

While they are American citizens, they are associated with being individual nations under the law. Therefore, the process of integration is spotty at best.
@Diotrephes Go fk yourself, YOU ALL STOLE OUR LAND 🤬

@NativePortlander1970 The original post referred to Indians being "Native Americans." I pointed out that is BS because most American Indians did not become American citizens until 1924. So how could they be considered "Native Americans?"

Now go and rant about how the Spanish, the French, and the Portuguese stole your land as well.
@Diotrephes You're too fucking stupid for words, racist piece of shit.
