Am I the only one who doesn't care whether Anderson Lee Aldrich meant to commit a hate crime when he killed those people?

Legally there might not be a difference, socially there is.
There was a similar question in my country about femicide, does it count as worse than murder? The truth is legally femicide is just homicide. Some people might believe that changing the legal status will contribute to equality, personally I don't have enough knowledge on the matter to have an opinion.
Although the motive is important in many legal cases but could result in us talking about details, like him getting 5 more years or something.
