I Am Going to Say Something Controversial

@SW-User Well if you listen to what the players say you won't hear them say anything about trying to disrespect the flag, or the troops, or any of the other nonsense agenda people push on them. They've been very clear about their stance from the beginning and like everything else it gets blown out of proportion. They apparently feel the country is not protecting what they hold dear to them...be it family, friends, etc. Not being where some of these guys come from I can't really relate. I didn't grow up worrying about being killed while just taking a walk down the street. If you take issue and want change is that really your answer? Just leave and go start a new country? I think that was tried before back in the 1800's and look how that turned out, lol.

@SW-User There's a time and a place to address your personal problems. That's all I'm going to say about that. They are seeking attention and not in the right way. They aren't helping anything by the way they are addressing it, or even where they are taking it. There's a time and a place for that. They just choose to pick the highest rating place on TV to start that crap. Shame on them for doing so. I bet they use an American made pen to cash their checks with no problem.

@SW-User Where do people go to protest when they want to raise awareness to what they are protesting? They seek the place where the most people will listen. Otherwise it wouldn't be much of a protest........the fact that it has become an issue is proof enough of that. It's unfortunate that it has been misinterpreted. It's a known fact that many of these guys kneeling are giving money back into their communities and fighting to get legislation to protect the people in them. The misconception is that they are kneeling for themselves....they're not. They are kneeling for people close to them that have been killed or have come close to being killed. A lot of these guys come from nothing and lived in areas I wouldn't even want to drive through let alone live in.

@SW-User My dad always watches it. And I don't see the appeal. Never have. You drive in a circle. Hell, my dad even falls asleep during them. That's how boring they are.

But how do we determine what sport is patriotic?

@TexChik Actually it's not what? NASCAR ratings have dropped by nearly half in the past 10 years....down 12% from last year alone. NFL has dropped too but it hasn't been that bad.

Well we'll differ on opinion with whether exercising one's first amendment right is appropriate or not. If these players were kneeling out of laziness I'd agree with you...but when these players are actively pursuing what they believe in and donating their time and money to doing it as so many have proven to do then I don't think it gets any more appropriate than that.

@SW-User it's not difficult to tell the effect Kapernick has had on the NFL viewership and game attendance . Both are down . No one is buying the airtime around the national anthem ... which is lost revenue for the networks and will affect the bottom
Line at the next negotiation with the NFL .

Those numbers are down in all sports. NASCAR as well. It’s the market not politics. And there is no airtime around the national anthem...because 9 times out of 10 the national anthem isn’t even aired unless it’s a special event. If you watched football you’d realize this.
