I do not support it either but what you allege there is not "socialism", but hard-line capitalism.
A hard-line socialist state is pro-"working class", on the whole; and would likely control those institutions at national level, or even nationalise them.

@sunsporter1649 No it didn't, but I never claimed that. I simply stated one of its definitions or policies.

@ArishMell Let us know when you find a country that it has worked

@sunsporter1649 If you mean "socialism" in its extreme form, Communism, it works economically in China and Vietnam, mixed with some free-market trading..... but I'd certainly not want to live there, nor wish China's tyranny on anyone.

@ArishMell It isnt necessary to own or control. It is easier to regulate in some instances to protect workers and the community. And to tax to make sure the company contributes to the community that provides the workforce and infrastructure. Win Win..In the long term..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Oh, I agree to a large extent. I think we went wrong in the UK by not keeping sufficient control on who does own it, and how they operate it.
Not only tax to help the community but also regulations to protect the workforce.

@ArishMell I agree on all points. There are a dozen ways to get it right. The thing they all have in common is the power is in equilibrium, between Capital and people (usually represented by the government.) If it goes out of balance on either side it cant continue to function for long..😷
