I'm a democratic socialist

so when I bring up socialism and people are like "So like Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot and Kim Jong-Un?" it's as if whenever capitalism is brought up people were like "So like Hitler, Mussolini, Franco and Pinochet?" - democratic socialism has as much to do with Marxism-Leninism/Stalinism/Maoism/Juche as (neo)liberalism has to do with fascism/Nazism; yes, both use the same (or at least a similar) economic model, but the policies used within the systems are radically different.

please name your favorite "socialist" nation
@SusanInFlorida There are none right now. But the countries that have come to closest to Socialism have the highest living standards.

@BohemianBoo evasive. which country?
@SusanInFlorida You want me to lie?
I told you, there are no socialist countries yet.
SusanInFlorida · 31-35, F
@BohemianBoo so your favorite nation has never existed, and there are none close enough to dare mention? wow, you sure backed away from your original premise quite fast.

@SusanInFlorida Chile under Allende or Bolivia for example.
Also Social Market economies like Finland, Denmark, Sweden... are also superior to the US.

Well the closest would be the Nordic countries and the German Sprachraum countries. They've come the closest, which is why they have the best living standards.

@Emosaur Allende was a "marxist" (see link below). He was attempting to "nationalize" all the important industries in Peru under government control when he died. Analysts are divided about whether his suicide was authentic, or staged by opponents with the help of the CIA.

@Stephanidunord Bernnie sanders famously claimed several scandinavian countries were soclialist. they told him he was incorrect, and stop claiming this.

@BohemianBoo bernie sanders claimed various scandinavian countries were "socialist". they protested vigorously, and he was forced to stop making this claim as part of his american political speeches.

@SusanInFlorida No shit. That's why I said these are the countries that came the closest. Again, as I've said twice, there are no socialist countries currently.
@Emosaur Yeah, it's still Capitalism. But as far as Capitalism goes, Social Democracy is the most based form.

@Emosaur Conservatives can't argue beyond fearmongering that's why she thought buzzwords like "marxist" and "nationalize" do the trick cause to right wingers that's evil.
@SusanInFlorida Can you name any laissez-faire capitalist countries?

@SusanInFlorida Allende was president of Chile, not Peru. He was succeeded by Augusto Pinochet, who was among the worst dictators of the 20th century.

Straight from the horse's mouth, Denmark Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen makes clear:
