@AwakeningConfession9: It upsets me when I hear of old men getting released 40yrs later after getting falsely accused of a crime they didn't commit. They didn't deserve that, it was a mistake and the other inmates probably don't believe their story.
I live in a country that has strict gun control and happy that I do. Why people feel the need to own things like Assault Guns is beyond me

I don't think it matters either way. There are so many guns floating around the US that any legislation is like closing the stable after the horse already ran off.
Trying to ban assault rifles or high ammunition clips sounds reasonable, but hardly any murders occur with that type of weaponry. Handguns are the most often used, and that's mainly because they're the most practical.
I think people deserve a right to feel safe, and sometimes that takes owning a gun. I think some types of guns are unnecessary, but many people use them for recreation.
The government can't protect everyone. We have to trust citizens to do things for themselves sometimes. It may not be the most desirable way of doing things, but it's what we have to deal with. Murders and gun violence need to be treated with a holistic approach. Strong communities and social services and support. Gun laws alone can only do so much
I'm all for gun control. It feels more natural than the Xbox one default controller. With the gun attachment its easier to play Call of Duty.

For. Not total control, I'm all for people being able to arm and protect themselves, but no average Joe Schmoe needs access to a damn assault rifle.

@sirjames: we have gun control in Australia, only cops, army, farmers are legally allowed to carry guns and how is a law abiding citizen got a chance against some criminal with an automatic gun? "She'll be right mate, just run and calm the cops in hope you don't get Swiss cheesed up.

And not only that, but notice how people nowadays hold authority in a kind of supernatural reverence: for instance, why is it that only cops and soldiers should have guns? Is there some kind of morality they possess that lesser, ordinary citizens don't? Are they not as human and as prone to error and violence? Fools will answer, "but they are trained." But trained in what exactly? The issue isn't shooting straight, it's who and when you shoot, which is a moral judgment. So evidently these people think that the instructors of police and soldiers have some high moral sense that we common folk don't. I wonder where these instructors learned it from? And their instructors before them, and so on? haha
For it. Gun control isn't a ban, like some people seem to think, but buying a gun should involve a little more than breaking into one's piggy bank and running down to the local Walmart.
