Is the United States finaly taking steps to curb mass shootings and gun violanse?

U.S. senators said Sunday they have reached an agreement on tightening gun control laws in the United States. 10 Republicans are on board with it which means they would have enough votes to beat a Republican filibuster so maybe it will become a law. Cheers!

Looks like mostly Republican ideas in the bill, probably the only way it will pass.

A politically bipartisan group of 20 U.S. senators said Sunday they have reached agreement on tightening gun control laws in the United States, bolstering school security and funding more mental health care

although the deal does not include, as called for by President Joe Biden, a ban on the sale of rapid-fire assault weapons that have often been the weapon of choice deployed by mass shooters in the U.S.

the agreement would provide unspecified “major funding to help states pass and implement crisis intervention orders (red-flag laws) that will allow law enforcement to temporarily take dangerous weapons away from people who pose a danger to others or themselves.”

“billions in new funding for mental health and school safety, including money for the national build-out of community mental health clinics.” He said the legislation would “close the ‘boyfriend loophole,’ so that no domestic abuser — a spouse or a serious dating partner — can buy a gun if they are convicted of abuse against their partner.”

He said the legislation would include a prohibition against people buying guns for others and enhance background checks for gun buyers under 21. Both the Buffalo and Uvalde mass shootings were carried out by 18-year-olds.

In addition, Murphy said the law, if approved by Congress, would clarify “who needs to register as a licensed gun dealer, to make sure all truly commercial sellers are doing background checks.”
So yeah, maybe it will pass.

Yes, they are taking steps to disarm the general public. It’s solely politics they could care less about any shootings many of them orchestrated to push it.

More likely they will pass something that won't do a damn thing.

I really don't see how they can get it under controlled. As a gun shop owner how the world do u know if this person that wants to buy a gun is mentally ill or planning to shoot up a place. Also changing the age from 18 to 21. U really think that will work. Sure stop us from under age drinking.

@smileylovesgaming it's called a momentary reach around to the hopolophobes. Meaningless dick grab

Can they hold on to the ten gops?
Why isn't anyone complaining about the deaths texting and driving?
More deaths per year from DUIs than guns. and most DUIs are charged as misdemeanors
Peril · F
@MarineBob more deaths per year from DUIs than guns? That's nonsense, by a loooong way.

If it makes you feel good - fine.
It will do nothing to actually curtail crazy people from killing other people.
