The most reviled people on SW aren’t the left or the right. They are free thinking centrists who will call people out for talking rubbish regardless.

People here will agree with almost anything so long as it supports their end of the political spectrum. Anything from celebrating the death of a public figure to embracing corruption. So long as it supports their political outlook.

Example: Some of you celebrated the death of George Floyd, some you celebrated the death of Charlie Kirk. The result? You’re all equally abhorrent.

There are no good guys and bad guys. Just left and right be equally obnoxious.

No real non indoctrinated person has just all left or all right views. People who judge things for themselves are a scatter graph of both left and right views.

This position is formed not by upholding one party or another regardless of what they do, but through honest assessment of what is happening.

So your personal crusade against the evils of the Left/Right is not for the betterment of your people/country etc. You’re just another mindless drone, and part of the problem.

Clowns to the Left, jokers to the right…

Anyway, carry on.

It mystifies me why certain centrists see themselves as non-ideological. They are, everyone is. Just done people are clearer what their assumptions are and where they come from.

For example, what is considered the political centre is never ever fixed. It changes over time and it's radically different in different countries. Politics is values based.

Also, centrists think they gave a monopoly over free thinking. If the truth is always in the middle, is that really open minded?

Sure, question everything and never blindly follow your own side. I do. I am a free thinker but my thoughts do correspond to identified political traditions. A lot of online political discourse is toxic, I agree on that. However, that is about the mode of engagement, not about how radical you are.

Ahh the "free-thinking" Centrists...

AdmiralPrune · 46-50, M
@SW-User Your indoctrination is showing.

Any moment now I expecting the other team to call me a commie.

You’re all the same.
SW-User
@AdmiralPrune I'm leftwing and proud of it. But I do not celebrate anyone's death.
AdmiralPrune · 46-50, M
@SW-User I’m glad to hear it.

George Foreman is dead?
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
George Floyd and Charlie Kirk aren't in the same category. I don't hate centrists per se. The issue is that they don't seem to have the ability for nuance like not knowing the difference and the issues that surrounds them like police brutality and systemic racism. They are always the people who both sides every argument but that is also simplifing and diminishing issues.

This gives the impression that centrists are always playing both sides rather than sticking to principle. I don't hate anyone though and hardly think about it
AdmiralPrune · 46-50, M
@SatanBurger I’m glad you don’t hate anyone. It’s a sound rule to live by.

I don’t agree about Kirk and Floyd. But that’s life.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 31-35, M
I'd agree with you but then you might use that as validation that you aren't the exact type of centrist that the stereotype describes. A centrist for centrism's sake. Floyd and Kirk are obviously not equivalents. Floyd was a pos who was killed in the process of committing a crime and even if we accept a narrative of Kirk also being one, what he was killed during was unambiguously legal. I'd ask you to justify how exactly you determine the reactions to be equal.

@AdmiralPrune You're not drawing it out because nobody has ever asked you to like I have, not even yourself. Simply stated, you haven't actually thought out what you believe to its foundation and so you fall into the same problem everyone does. You are a self referencing contradiction.
AdmiralPrune · 46-50, M
@Jackaloftheazuresand Your opinion is noted.

When one starts actually thinking for oneself, one will find themself having varied viewpoints that don't always fit in narrow dogmatic boxes.

@AdmiralPrune
Most people here are not capable of self evaluation and change.

Why should people "self-evaluate" and change?

What I'm wondering here is whether you believe that the correct thing to do is actually for everyone to "self-evaluate" themselves and consequently change their beliefs to such an extent that they, and everyone else, will essentially end up believing in everything and nothing?
AdmiralPrune · 46-50, M
@SW-User Don’t we all self evaluate? Don’t you ever stop and think “Is this the right thing to do?”.

My post wasn’t saying I’m the only person who thinks for themselves, I said some other people don’t. You’ve accepted the label. The cap fits. There nothing I can do about that.
SW-User
@AdmiralPrune yes I do
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
To be fare... the eternal fence-sitting (nihilistic) centrist, is pretty obnoxious too. You know, those people that believe that what is happening on both sides, is exactly the same and therefore no one has the right to complain about anything.
AdmiralPrune · 46-50, M
@Kwek00 It’s incredibly productive for me.

You see I have a limited amount of fucks to give. I don’t spend any on SW.
@AdmiralPrune If you need to make yourself functionally stupid through deliberate self imposed ignorance so you don't get your feelings hurt that is your issue.
AdmiralPrune · 46-50, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow If it was only my issue, it’s weird how uptight other people get about it. 😆
Gibbon · 70-79, M
👀 WTF? I totally disagree. Everybody is wrong except for you and me. Come to think of it I'm not sure about you.

Let's see. Reviled?

Oh yeah there's the real meaning of the post
AdmiralPrune · 46-50, M
@Gibbon Don’t flirt with me, you’re not my type.
Gibbon · 70-79, M
@AdmiralPrune Holy shit he lost the script
AdmiralPrune · 46-50, M
@Gibbon Steady on old fellow. You’ll do yourself a mischief. Get sat comfortably and look through some South Park Gifs, to chill your beans.
Is this a "I am the smartest man in the room" post? Cause it sure does feel like it.
AdmiralPrune · 46-50, M
@TheDeathOCuHullainn Potentially the least indoctrinated.

I’m not saying I’m the only SWer that has this stance.
@AdmiralPrune Sure, isnt that what all the most indoctrinated would say? Just thinking about all those tinfoil hat wearing people and flat Earthers that go around calling people Sheeple. This post has the same vibes, mostly from how it was said.
I've been accused of celebrating the death of Charlie Kirk, and of being an anti-Semite. Neither is true. It's just that some of my "debate" opponents sling labels instead of facts & logic.

SunshineGirl · 41-45, F
Yes, those who challenge cherished beliefs and make people feel uncomfortable will always be unpopular.
AdmiralPrune · 46-50, M
@SunshineGirl I couldn’t have put it better myself.
