The spending has to be controlled. We can't continue to borrow money just so we can give it away.

You mean will the Republicans cave to demands to extend tax credits that make health insurance cheaper for millions of Americans (which are set to expire), and for a reversal of cuts to Medicaid that have been made by Trump?

Take it from someone who use to live the the DC suburbs. No layoffs will be permanent and once the shutdown is over all government employees will get all back pay. So a shutdown is nothing more than a paid holiday for government employees. Now government contractors are a whole different story. They definitely do not get back pay.

I don't believe they will. Trump is very firm on what he needs the House to do...the Republican house.

Maybe congress paychecks/benefits should be suspended during any shut down never to be paid out under any circumstances
