I came across this article and it was an eye-opener for me. Not that I'm surprised that it still exists, but the surprise is that it's a 'community' where American servicemen actually live and have 'American conveniences' just like any on any other military base.

The US govt continues to send those monthly rental checks.
I am not sure if any are being cashed by the Cuban govt today, but from what I have read, Castro never cashed a single one.

Crowley Container Lines continues to send vessels loaded with containers of aid to Cuba.

I was there briefly while with the Marines in the 70s, there have been military personnel stationed there since at least the late 60s
