During the 1992 presidential race, Ross Perot had an opinion on NAFTA. Was he right?

I didn't like the little man but he did make a few good points.

@nudistsueaz Glad to hear I'm not the only one. He never clicked with me. He just didn't have Trump's charisma.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@AbbeyRhode His biggest issue was the fact that was a bit eccentric. You may recall he dropped out, and then came back into the race. Bad move. I still voted for him and glad I did, but I was kind of upset and felt after the election like I should have went with the more established politicians after his loss.

Trump didn't make that mistake. He learned from Perot's mistake and captured the Republican nomination.

@carpediem Well what ever he did, it sure worked well for Bill Clinton.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@nudistsueaz That's exactly why I felt I wasted my vote. I was NOT a Clinton fan. But compared to today's far left democrat party, Clinton looks like Teddy Roosevelt.

@AbbeyRhode Honestly Abbey, I don't think him and I would be friends, if we knew one another. Saying that I have always felt he truly had the country's best interest at heart. Plus he financed most of hie own campaign, was transported in his own plane and made a lot of sense when speaking.
nudistsueaz · 61-69, F
@carpediem That's true but that's where the change started.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@nudistsueaz a bit strange. A friend of a friend was one of his go-fers and had great praise for him.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@nudistsueaz Also a bit of a sad history. A good college friend who graduated with me in 63, and electrical engineer, got his first big job at EDS and had interviewed with Ross. On graduation he bought a car, packed his bags and headed to EDS. On the way a head on collision took his life.

@carpediem But I remember reading something about how he made some wild accusation against George Bush Sr .of trying to ruin his daughter's wedding,or something to that effect .As I recall,he had no proof and he came across as some kind of conspiracy nutjob, and that was the nail in the coffin for his campaign.I admit Im hazy on the exact details.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@DavidT8899 We had lying media back then too. You never know what the actual truth is. You just get spin from one side or another.
Barefooter25 · 46-50, M
@carpediem He did resonate with independent thinking voters but George Bush breaking his "No new taxes" pledge and beginning to campaign in the last minute was enough to give Clinton the '92 election.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@DavidT8899 That entire election cycle gave voters no good choices. Bush was out of touch, the Clintons were crooks and Perot was out in right field talking to himself.

Lee Atwater put Bush in the White House for one term, he could have put anyone in the White House, but Bush was on his own for a 2nd try, and he had wasted Atwater's achievement by trying too hard to accommodate Democrats.

@Heartlander That and openly supported the New World Order with a one world government. That should have been a reg flag and a warning of how politically toxic that whole family is.
