25% Tariffs on Canada ? Think VERY carefully...

Former prime minister Jean Chrétien says U.S. president-elect Donald Trump is likely to walk back his threat of punishing tariffs and the resulting trade war with Canada, because the Americans are too reliant on a number of Canadian exports, namely in the energy sector.

"He's apparently said this morning that he does not need our electricity. Fine," Chrétien said in an exclusive broadcast interview with CTV Question Period, airing Sunday. "If he wants us to cut off electricity, he would have to walk up the Trump Tower with candles to go to his office, because the state of New York relies a lot on electricity coming from Canada."

Trump wants to take over canada and make it's provinces into more US states, thereby creating a seamless mega-country between mainland USA and Alaska. It's a megalomaniac's wet dream.

@pdqsailor1 Absolutely. But these things are in the hands of the ruling classes and to them money is no object so any impacts on the middle/lower working classes are just collateral damage. I bet there are a lot of people in Hawaii that want the USA to GGF.

@zonavar68 The only thing a bully understands is how effective and severe the retribution will be against him.. Shut the power off to NYC for 48 hours and the breakdown in society will be very severe.. Do it for a week and there will be a catastrophe...

@Emiliomarti Trump has an established history of erratic actions. I'm betting he is already planning a military invasion of Greenland and keeping the plan in a 'high state of readiness' almost to the same level of integration as the nuclear launch authorisation process.
