Foreign Policy Crystal Ball

With all this talk about taking Greenland and the Panama Canal, the next US administration seems to feel it is fine for strong countries to take what they want from weaker countries. No doubt this would apply to Russia and China, too. Ukraine? Taiwan? I think I smell a deal, if our next President can manage it.

Oh he's certainly working up something but with Trump you can never be certain what it is. He is playing his own hand of cards and no one knows what he is holding. Never take what he says literally. He's not what the left make him out to be.

@Gibbon Exactly right.

@Gibbon the problem is what he says publicly has to be taken seriously. You can't say he's not to be taken literally. He's the president of the USA! He said on TV that he couldn't rule out using force to take Greenland and the Panama Canal. He literally made that statement, so Denmark, Greenland and Panama HAVE to take him literally, or nobody can believe anything the man says. You can't communicate with world leaders like that. It's incredibly dangerous. He's already making his new administration look deranged. He's literally threatening to take Greenland by force. Your excuse here is to effectively admit that he lies in public and nothing he says can be believed because he's playing his own cards. That's literally what you're saying. It's nothing whatsoever to do with how the left view him. That's just deflection. You're admitting Trump lies and can't be believed, irrelevant of his motives for lying.

@Gibbon But sooner or later he is going to have to stop playing solitaire by himself and join the adults at the big poker table.
