Thank you, Speaker Johnson! Some good ol’ fashioned bi-partisanship.

House passes $60.8B in delayed Ukraine aid. The measure will soon head to the Senate, as part of Speaker Mike Johnson's comprehensive foreign aid package.

Money to defend against an imperialist invasion coupled with money to fund one.

@Burnley123 oi vey indeed
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Burnley123 Doubt it would've passed bipartisanally without provisions for Israel. It's already a miracle it passed as is.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Elessar Oh I know and that makes it worse.
Ultimately it won't matter beyond perhaps the goal pf keeping the proxy war going till November. But ultimately all it will accomplish is keep more Ukrainians dying for western foreign policy.

But it is a very American idea that you can solve a problem by throwing blank cheques at it.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow The Venn Diagram of you and JD agreeing.
@Bumbles Lets just say someone should take a temperature reading in hell.

Some legislators finally remembered that their job description involves . . legislating 😐
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@SunshineGirl I hope it’s not a momentary lapse of reason.

Money we dont have. How are the public schools doing btw? Good enough for our politicians to be giving money away. Didnt take home ec. Eh?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@exchrist If Russia takes Ukraine next step will be by their very own admission either Poland or Lithuania, which are NATO countries, which means it'll get far more costly and not in terms of money but actual American lives (you know, an attack against a member of the alliance is an attack against all the members, it's essentially a hot WW3 without proxies).

Besides, those 60bln are the estimated worth of the material sitting in a warehouse that will be sent, not money that is sent as a cheque.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@exchrist * Besides, if you believe that the very republicans that were blocking this aid would be in favour of spending 60bln for infrastructure and public school I have a transatlantic bridge to sell you
exchrist · 31-35
@Elessar lol thsts a great way to have said that. In the interest of common ground i prefer to refer to both parties as politicians rather than repiblican or democrat
jehova · 31-35, M
It is unfortunate its money we dont have
jehova · 31-35, M
@Bumbles yup so we need anyone else to fix this. Vote for me!
Bumbles · 51-55, M
@jehova It will probably become law. Sorry…
jehova · 31-35, M
@Bumbles i know right 😭
MarineBob · 56-60, M

Bumbles · 51-55, M
