Do corporations have control of the government?

There's no helping us now that the Republicans have gotten so weird.
Let us bow to our Walmart overlords.

I think the government still controls everything

@Lostpoet I believe it's billionaires and their corporations who subvert our government with campaign donations (bribes). The way to stop that is campaign finance reform laws banning private donations and making elections publicly funded only.

@badminton You mean only rich folks are allowed to play, and once the rich folks are on the team the taxpayers keep them on the team?

@sunsporter1649 As long as we permit nearly unrestricted campaign donations then the wealthy and corporations have vast influence over our government. The way to stop that is serious campaign finance reform laws, banning private donations and making our elections publically funded.

@badminton Hey, gubberment, give me $50,000,000 million to run for the Senate. Thank you very much

@sunsporter1649 Publically financed elections would give equal time to all candidates. I would be very glad to have my taxes go for that.

I think TV stations should be required to provide equal coverage time to all candidates.

@badminton You really think pmsnbc is going to give equal time to President Trump to state his views?

badminton · 61-69, MVIP
@sunsporter1649 No, Trump did not get equal media time - he got 30 times more. In the 2016 election the news media gave Trump 25-30 times more coverage than Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders. That was because when they covered Trump ratings went up. Trump was the Jerry Springer candidate. He entertained the simplist among us.

@badminton LOL, 30 times more positive coverage?

@sunsporter1649 from a Politico article by Nick Gass, 2016, "Donald Trump disproportionately benefited from the Fourth Estate’s coverage over the past year of the presidential campaign. Hillary Clinton, meanwhile, drew the most negative coverage of any other candidate."

From Vox "Study: Hillary Clinton, not Donald Trump, gets the most negative media coverage."
